Dear Lucile:

I mailed you a perfectly beautiful letter yesterday. This is merely an afterthought.

It has struck me that the U. of Neb. Press may want critical comment on Black Elk for advertising. In the Lemmons dissertation there is a chapter in which all such comment is collected. Two or three pages of this would contain the best of the material, including the comments of Dobie. I wish you could have a girl, or any typist, copy this for me. I don't want you to do it, because I know you have too much to do anyway. I'll be glad to pay well for the copy.

Don't feel that my lovely letter of yesterday was too lugubrious. I'm not in a lugubriate (1) condition at all! (1) made that word up all by myself.)

Are you actually coming in April? Really?

Affection as always,

John.
