Dear Mari Sandoz:

I've recently received the Brand Book of the N. Y. Westerners and it reminds me that I did not thank you for that generous letter of yours regarding my talk at the annual dinner. I thank you now, dear lady. It meant much to me.

Did you note what was said of me in The Hitching Post? Who is "South Pass Pete"? He (or she?) does write well.

I've been surprised to note that no mention has been made of the annual dinner and my talk. It seems a bit odd. Certainly the crowd was with me, if I know crowds; and I've known hundreds upon hundreds of them.

Anyway I greatly appreciate your kindess, and I hope I may have the privilege of meeting you again before too long.

Sincerely,

John Neihardt
