Dear Lady:

This is not the letter proper, which you may have read already. It is just some more reading matter for you to enjoy.

I wanted to say that your dissertation lies on my desk, because Ghose brought it back recently. I've been reading here and there in it, and I can tell you I think it's a bully, bully job! I hope much (or at least quite a much) of it can be used over in your Biography. Can it be used without a great deal of re-writing? I should think it could - much of it.

Did I tell you about my doings in Nebraska - at Lincoln, in Omaha? The Bodmer painting for the paper-back Cycle of the West? I've signed the contract for the Cycle. "Lyrics" will appear next year.

Old Doc Neihardt sends you large quantities of the old, old affection.

John.
