I was very glad indeed to hear from you, and I thank you for the copy of the article about our mutual friend, Dr. J. T. House. I have the article among my papers, but have not seen it for a long while. Dr. never made the trip because, as I remember, his wife had a bad sick spell that summer and he could not get away. I'm sure he could have done it.

The River and I is out of print now, but no doubt it will be reissued in a year or two. It should

be in all large libraries; and large second-hand bookstores can often locate copies at a premium — It is a collector's item, but is priced generally below $10.
