Dear Lucile:

No word from you since our meeting at McCurdy's!

I have a special reason for writing you now. When I was in Lincoln recently I met Mrs. Elmer Holm, and she asked about the MS biography of me done as a W. P. A. project during the second world war. I supposed it was in the Western Hist MSS collection here, but it is not, and the office force knows nothing of it.

So it has struck me that you may have used it in writing your dissertation. Did you? In any case, do you know where it may be? Or anything about it?

When I think of you, which is very often, I have a sad feeling, you seem far, far away — beyond reach really. Why should I feel so?

Do you still think you will be able to use me in March? The Lincoln fans want me back for April 2-5, and they are getting the backing of the Centennial Comm Commission. I'd like to plan on going to Lincoln in early April.

The Governor's Mansion affair was lovely, and the response was bully.

I stayed with the Julius Youngs — the friends who helped build the Hugh Glass monument on their honeymoon 44 years ago!

I do wish you seemed less far away. Please seem closer!

With the old affection —

John N.

The new bronze bust will be exhibited at Joslyn Memorial, and then it will tour the state for several months with the Nebraska Art collection. Then it will be unveiled at Wayne.
