Dear Lucile:

Please do tell me what is happening to your book. Have you offered it to a publisher? Have you had any contact with Bruce Nicoll recently?

Did I tell you that Black Elk Speaks is the "hottest thing on the East Coast", according to an agent in Boston? And the movies are after the book. We are now dickering on a contract.

The Splendid Wayfaring and When the Tree Flowered will be out in paper back editions in September.

I am not at all sure about my "autobiography". It is one of my very [best?] books; but something cagey seems to be going on since big movie money money became possible.

Stewart seemed sure that your book was about to appear; at least I understood so. Anyway, my book will not be allowed to interfere.

Isn't the poor dear cockeyed world getting sort of scary? I once spent much time on the French Revolution, and some of the likenesses are almost terrifying. I think of a run-away team just getting into the gallop.

I feel the old love for you and I include your dear ones in it.

I'm going ahead with the adult section of my book.

Gaki (John Neihardt)
P. S.

I phoned Bruce yesterday, and he seemed completely ignorant.
