Dear Lucile:

I'm spending a few days here, and will return to Lincoln on Sunday. (This is Friday).

I was greatly interested in what you said about your MS. Please do let me know all about the suggested changes. I wonder who is giving the book its fine reading. Anyway, it's a heluva good book.

We sent (or did we?) several pages of minor, but necessary, corrections. Have you noted these?

Yesterday Hilda received a letter — from a Mr. and Mrs. [Hickock?], [saying?] they had purchased a painted

(over)
portrait of me and had presented it to the University of Missouri. I know the painting, made in Lincoln two years ago by an Austrian painter, Szasz. It's prounounced Zass. The painting is a work of art. [Hickcocks?] wanted advice to where the portrait might best be placed. Hiddy does not want to be implicated, being my daughter. Where do you suggest? In Jesse Hall somewhere? It would conflict with the bronze bust in in Library Collection.

Do I say goddamittohell very often in your Biography. I think it quite frequently!!

Do you still like me a little? I still like you and Bower and Stewart quite a good deal.

With love

Gaki
I've been doing some of my very best writing during the last six months. My dog story is a [corker?]!
