Dear Slade:

I have just returned from the funeral of H. B. bless his truly noble soul! Rev. Crowley, of course, gave the talk, and it was a fine and well deserved tribute. He really got the spirit of the man I was so sorry you were unable to be present, and I hope you are not sick. Let me hear from you.

Hilda had a court case in Jefferson City and could not be with us; but Alice and I went together.

This carries love for you, dear Slade.

We both know that H. B. is all right, that he is better off than we are. And to think how many care that he has gone on!

Yesterday, the U of Mo. Library unveiled a fine painted portrait of me by the Hungarian artist, Franz Szalsz . There was a nice ceremony — luncheon and reception. The portrait is hung in the "Neihardt Room" with my Collection.

Kindest thoughts for Nita and love to you, Slade.
