I can't see much of what I am writing, but I want to get in touch with you a again somehow.
I have just returned from Columbia, where I spent 6 six weeks reciting my stuff for the United Artists for record. The first album should be on
the market by June 1st, I understand. We recorded a mess of stuff, and it nearly did me up, I am still slacking much of the time.
I do want to hear from you. There must be some news; What of the Biography and the U. of Mo. Press? The book should have a real publisher;
We have a new contract a for Black Elk movie, which may work out by July 31st. There are several bidders for rights — one recent one is for [movie a commercial?] play. The [popper?] came to see me at Columbia. I'm trying to get started again on [an?] second volume. Reviews have all been happy. It's not an autobiography so much as another Neihardt book, Hilda [says?].
Do write me and tell about yourself and Bower.
Does Bower know General Crook's short speech on Indian treaties?
