Letter from John G. Neihardt to Lucile Aly, January 22, 1967

Dear Lucile:

Of course I've been hoping to hear from you, and just now I had a good talk with Dr. McCurdy, who told me much about your activities. Sooner or later I'll hear from you, I know.

I've just been to Lincoln and had one of those glorious times. I gave a

program in the Governor's Mansion for the Nebraska Ladies Legislative League, which is composed of wives of the State officials. It's a very influential organization, as you would know! Attendance was flattering. They crowded in, and the reception was rather "electric". The Governor and the Chancellor came by way of being nice to Gaki! Yesterday there was a wire-photo of me and the Governor's Lady on the front page (top right) of the Columbia Tribune!

I'm looking forward to seeing you in the spring, if everything goes well.

Love to you and Bower. — John N. P. S.

The Lincoln affair was the official "send-off" for the Centennial Year. (1867-1967)

I do wish I could have seen old Stewart. Dr. McCurdy told me about him. Bless his heart!
