Nov. 17, '67 Dear Lucile:

This is what I did not say in my dictated letter enclosed herewith: yes, "pallid" is the word for my reference to our "old friendship". The fact is that I have loved you a long while, and, at the same time, as you say, I have liked you too.

It is in the Pattern of Things that we should be associated in the work undertaken long ago.
