May 1, 1969 Mr. J. Golden Taylor, Editor Western American Literature Colorado State University Fort Collins, Colorado 80521 Dear Mr. Taylor:
You have made me unhappy, although with the best intentions.I should like very much to know The Blue God and review it, but I really should not undertake it now. During the past fall and winter I have had two cataract operations, and cannot take on any considerable amount of reading. Also within the next week I will have the complete manuscript of my biography, and this will require all my attention for some time. If I have any time left over, I feel obliged to continue work on my autobiography.
Really, I am very sorry that I must refuse.
I know your magazine and have high regards for it. Truly your English Department has reason to be proud of it.
With all kind thoughts,JGN:fmb
John G. Neihardt
