April 25, 1972 President D. B. Varner The University of Nebraska Lincoln, Nebraska 68508 Dear President Varner:
I must beg your pardon for not replying sooner to your letter of April 10, stating that the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska has voted to confer upon me the Nebraska Builder Award. I have been rather helpless in the hospital for some time and neglected my correspondence.
I need not tell you that I was delighted to know that the award will be given to me, and I feel greatly honored in accepting it.
I note that the presentation will be made on Friday, May 19, at the Commencement exercise in the Pershing Municipal Auditorium. Will you please write me again, giving the time that I am to be present and any instructions that I may need.
With thanks and all kind thoughts, John G. NeihardtJGN:nh
