November 7, 1972 Mrs. William Watkins 209 College Avenue Swarthmore, Pennsylvania 19081 Dear Mrs. Watkins:
I am very much interested in your offer to paint the portrait of Jacquot, my good friend and colleague, and I understand that Mrs. Young is sending you herewith two photographs. I am sure that you will find him a "real people." I, myself, favor the full length picture, although the other one is a better portrait.
Heretofor artists have chosen to paint my portrait. I think it is very discerning of you to choose Jacquot instead of myself. I wish he could sit for you. He is a very satisfactory model and would like nothing better than to pose for you hours on end.
With all kind thoughts, John G. NeihardtJGN:nh
